The Educational Evidence Portal (www.eep.ac.uk) brings together research and evidence for educational professionals in one place. Documents from leading education organisations have been collated in one, easily accessible, searchable site, making information and evidence on a wide and ever-growing range of topics freely available. As well as education, the site is developing to include relevant aspects of children’s services research too.
Over the past year EEP has developed from the initial vision of the eight organisations involved in driving it (including DCSF, TDA and NFER) to a live website, providing searches of selected documents as well as searching all contributors’ websites.
The EEP site is growing quickly, and the development team is trying to make it a ‘one-stop shop’ for all. They would like your views, and an online survey is available on the site: www.survey.bris.ac.uk/heacademy/eep
Future developments include ‘Resource Areas’. These will have highly relevant evidence based materials and information for key target groups, and with a particular emphasis on practitioner guidance. A Resource Area may, for example, take a broad subject area such as special educational needs and highlight key resources or information that will be of generic interest. The user can then drill down into pages that are specifically focused on their area of interest or expertise.
The first resource area will go live in September 08. Over the following months, it is intended to set up resource areas on the following areas:
• Gifted and Talented
• Initial Teacher Training
• Advanced Skills Teachers
• Brain Science
• Fragile States
• Education finance
• Childrens services
