Mae John Griffiths, y Dirprwy Weinidog dros Sgiliau, wedi llongyfarch Victoria Griffiths a Ricky Hilton am ennill tair medal aur i Gymru yng Nghystadleuaeth EuroSkills yn Rotterdam, ar yr achlysur cyntaf i’r gystadleuaeth gael ei chynnal. Cystadleuaeth newydd ar gyfer sgiliau yw EuroSkills, sy’n amrywio o drin gwallt i filfeddygaeth. Bu 40,000 o wylwyr yn gwylio 400 o gystadleuwyr o 29 o wledydd yn cystadlu mewn 25 o gystadlaethau gwahanol ar gyfer 49 o sgiliau galwedigaethol gwahanol. Mwy

The “Moodle” online resource will facilitate the sharing of good practice by further education (FE) colleges large and small, north and south, east and west. More

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has announced a package of reforms to strengthen standards in schools and help the school workforce to carry out their duties more effectively. New legislation will be introduced to make sure all schools comply with existing provisions, for example giving teachers guaranteed time away from the classroom in which to plan and prepare lessons and assess pupils, including extra time for newly qualified teachers. Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) together with the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), Standards Verification UK (SVUK ) and the Institute for Learning (IfL) have been working together to define the process for evidencing the personal skills of teachers, tutors and trainers in the lifelong learning sector. John Denham, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, has announced that initially nine of the most selective universities have agreed to extend opportunities for the best performing students from the most challenging backgrounds to show what they can achieve, building on existing work in the sector. Skills Accounts will help individuals take control of their learning and working life. The ambition is that Skills Accounts will be a personalised service that allows learners to access a range of information and careers advice about how to improve their skills and access financial support. More
